At 35 and after almost two years without a single international appearance, Juventus's Prince continues to dream about the world cup in South Africa: "I know the staff is not yet set"

48 hours after the Achilles' heel smashed beckham and UK's dream of World Cup, here is the Italian version named Alessandro Del Piero, who hasn't played a minute since the last EURO tournament, but fantasizes aloud about getting summoned to South Africa. The prince even sent a message to his coach, Marcello Lippi, asking to be included in the team roster in the June World Cup.

For the first time Del Piero has formally declared his desire to be at the World Cup. "I hope I can be on the staff of Italy this summer. I know Lippi still has not formulated the staff, and he should take me into consideration," said the 35-year player, whose last national game was at Euro quarterfinal against Spain.

Current season, Del Piero has not registered even one gate until January, but the past two months scored eight goals in all competitions, including a pair against Siena last cycle (3:3).

Lippi, who coached Del Piero in two of his terms, preferred, during the World Cup qualification ,to open with young pioneers in the composition, preferably Giuseppe Rossi playing for Villarreal, who plays a similar role.

Three months before Brazil's first game at World Cup 2010 vs. South Korea, Ronaldinho is counting on the Brazilian National uniform and is not ashamed to admit it. The Milan midfielder declared: "I have played for the National Team since I was fifteen and I don't believe this summer will be different. I'm planning to play in Brasil at World Cup 2014".
