Lionel Messi: Good, but not the best

What hasn't been told about Lionel Messi – That he's the best player in the world, that he controls the ball like he does in his own hand. Maradona even said that he's "passing with jesus". Following his recent activity, the global media representing him over and over as the best player of all times, but, he's still lacking a few elements in order to be along with names like Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan and even Maradona and Pele.

In the professional level, we all forget that Messi is giving an extraordinary at Barcelona where he plays constantly since he has been 13. The experts say, and not for nothing, that the test will be at the next world cup at South Africa. That is to say, a player that can overcome his usual abilities to win outside his natural environment, his deserved to be titlwoed as the best player of all times.

Us, soccer fans, have a very short memory. It seems that we already forgotten about the 2006 world cup where we expected Ronaldinho to win for the Brazilian team. Ronaldinho, to be sincere with our selves, played at the Capital of Catalonia when the team was much weaker compared to this day. He also won the Champions league in a much more phenomenal way than Messi did. Assuming that Messi will be the one holding the world cup at south Africa, only then, we soccer fans can declare him as number one.

In the technical level, it's hard to argue with that facts – Messi is an amazing player, and technically speaking he might be the greatest soccer player ever. But still, Messi is missing an attribute that had to those "Super athletes" we mentioned before – arrogance. True, we prefer our role-models to be a bit modest, but if that was the case they had probably never been at the top in the first place.

When a player like Maradona is giving a show like he did VS. England at the Semi-finals of world cup 86', it is clear that in his own head there is the thought that he is the best. Furthermore, only a player with this confidence can allow himself to slalom all the way to the goal. It's hard to imagine Messi giving the famous "bee speech" of Muhammad Ali, or dunking like Jordan with the buzzer VS. Utah.
